My "I Have A Dream" Speech

We need world peace! What does this have to do with you, you ask? Why can’t we travel to Cuba? Why are your loved ones over seas? If we had world peace, then a weight would be lifted off our shoulders, and our nation’s shoulders. Then, and only then, we could truly be, a free country. 

We cannot travel to Cuba, because of their dictator. If we had world peace, all countries would be free nations, with fair governments. This includes Cuba, Syria, North Korea, and many others. If we had world peace, there would be no wars, no terrorists, and less debt for our nation. All nations would be able to settle matters peacefully, without violence. We would no longer have to cower in the shadows of the United States, to hide from the beautiful peaks of Afghanistan. Our loved ones, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and even cousins are all trapped there, determined to stay, until we have that peace, the peace that we want, not only for our nation, but for other nations as well. 

Why do people have to die in Syria? It is because there isn’t peace, and that is something that we must obtain to be successful in the future, to maintain success in the centuries, and millenniums to come. Without peace, war could show up on your doorstep.

There are five days until Christmas. (Then I did some math.)

There are 1.5 school days.

That means 9 hours of school.

There are 129 hours and 7 minutes and 5 seconds.

And that's 5 days and 9 hours.

I love motivational quotes. They really motivate me, (Ha ha ha ha). So I was looking for a good one online and I found one and I thought I would share it with you because it's amazingly true. It's just one of those things that you never think about but realize it's actually very true. Enough of my blabbing, here it is.

First blog post for December

A delicious burger being grilled on environmentally dangerous grill.     

                This week in our The New York Times Upfront magazine, I read the article "Burger Pollution." This article was about how burgers and 18-wheel diesel truck that have driven 143 miles, create the same amount of air pollution, because of the grills that the burgers are grilled on. Also, it explains that fatty acids can fall into the fire of the grill and can evaporate into a pollutant that can cause lung disease, along with many other environmental impacts. The article states that students at the University of California, Riverside are studying these impacts and have designed a grill that traps the fatty acids in water so that the acids don't go into the air. I believe that this article was made so that it will inform students about our environment as well as make you want to disagree with it and see the harmful effects we have on our environment. I agree with the article's stance that we should all become more friendly to the environment, whether this means recycling, or composting, or walking places when we can. If we all lend a hand, we will be able save our environment from global warming."A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people,"(Theodore Roosevelt).

Not many of you commented but I'm too excited to share the ending.

......The next day I lost my job, because I wasn't smart anymore. I lost my wife, who loved me because I was smart. I didn't lose my fortune yet, but I won't be able to maintain it anymore, so I'll lose it eventually. I fell into a pit of depression. My wife took my three kids; Melanie, Maggie, and Logan after our divorce. They were my only joy after the wand went out. I never got another job. On my 50th birthday I committed suicide, because I was so depressed. My magic wand was buried with me.

Free Write continued

A lot of you have been wondering what happens at the end of my free write and I've been thinking about it too. So I've come up with an answer for you.

.....At midnight I heard a weird noise. I woke up and went over to the locked box where I kept my magic wand. It usually glows an eerie silver color, even when it's locked up in the box. But now it was black, a deep, dark as night shade of black. It was so dark that the only thing that allowed me to see it in the darkness of my bedroom were the lasers surrounding the box. I unlocked the box and took the wand out. I tried to turn by bed sheets into denim, but it didn't work. I tried to make myself recite pi by casting a spell, but that didn't work either. Oh no, I'm doomed!....

Free Write: What would you do if you found a magic wand?

         When I was 9, I found a magic wand right outside my house. It looked very much like a stick. I picked it up and started to wave it around. I accidentally turned my shoelaces into gold, and my hair red. My dog was suddenly a hedgehog and I didn't know why. I tried casting spells, "turn this rock into gold," I commanded, pointing the wand-stick at the rock I was holding in my hand. The rock turned into gold. I was astonished! I would be rich! I went home and used the wand to do my homework, perfectly. I turned anything invaluable into gold. Years later, I was rich and became a successful doctor who cured cancer, (because I wished that I was the smartest person in the world). But the day I turned 40, everything took a turn for the worst.....
